AGITATOR BEARINGS

Vespel® CR-6100 and Boulden B-Series Agitator Bearings

Boulden supplies upgraded agitator bearings and agitator bushings manufactured from Vespel® CR-6100 and Boulden B-Series engineered composite materials. These composite materials display excellent properties and are ideal for replacing agitator bearings and agitator bushings. Our composite materials for agitator steady bearings and bushings provide broad chemical and temperature resistance, excellent dimensional stability, low friction, and low wear. The steady bearing in an agitator is designed to stabilize the agitator shaft during operation. While the agitator shaft rotates, high radial loads are absorbed by the agitator bearing or bushing. Plastic or filled-PTFE agitator bearings will often deform under high loads–an undesirable phenomenon known as creep. Once the agitator bearing is deformed, the orbit of the rotor can change, increasing operating loads on the bearing and resulting in a short bearing life. Upgrading to Boulden-supplied composite material for your agitator steady bearing also provides a solution for your metal agitator bearing failure issues. Composite materials do not seize and help reduce the wear rate of the agitator bearing. The result is longer intervals between maintenance.
